The Most Beautiful Aquariums of the World
In Tectum's newest book project The Most Beautiful Aquariums of the World the sole focus is, for the first time in any modern aquarium book, on how an aquarium can enhance your home. A well-designed aquarium can become a focal point in even the most fashionable of living rooms. The Tectum team selected and photographed the top-of-the-top aquariums from amongst several of the most discriminating aquarium owners in the world.
This book focuses on architecture, decoration and furniture, as well as the aquariums and living aquatic organisms. Through sequences of beautiful photography and short pieces of text, it tells the story of how a small segment of nature, in the form of life in a glass encased box, can be a part of a beautiful room interior.
About The Authors
Svein A. Fossa is an ichthyologist, full time author and advisor, and a leading international voice for responsible and sustainable practices in the aquarium trade. He is currently president of Ornamental Fish International (OFI) and consultant to several other aquarium trade associations. He has authored well over two hundred magazine articles, reports and other publications on aquarium topics, including 15 previous books in co-authorship with Alf Jacob Nilsen.
Alf Jacob Nilsen is educated as a teacher and biologist and lives on the island of Hidra in the south-western corner of Norway. For more than 20 years he has worked with coral reef biology and coral reef aquariums, topics that he has described in several articles and books. He is a member of the International Society for Reef Studies (ISRS) and has visited coral reefs around the globe. He is also an experienced nature photographer and runs the Internet based photo agency Bioquatic Photo.
